What Does Caris Do?

We make sure our staff and volunteers understand the unique needs of our veterans.

  • Caris regularly trains its staff on how best to care for veterans and their loved ones.
  • Caris tends to the specific and unique needs of veterans at the end of life.
  • Caris provides training to staff at nursing centers specifically on caring for veterans at the end of life.
  • Caris seeks veteran volunteers to provide one-on-one interaction with our patients who are veterans.
  • Caris cherishes the opportunity to serve those who have served us.

Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteers

For our Caris staff and volunteers, it is both a privilege and an honor, as reflected by our participation in the We Honor Veterans program, to serve those who served. We enlist volunteers, many of whom are veterans themselves, for our veteran patients.

Our veteran volunteers possess a profound understanding of the needs of other veterans. They sacrificed while in uniform and continue to serve by making a difference in the lives of our veteran patients and their loved ones.

My motivation, as a veteran volunteer, is to pay the veteran back for their time and service to our nation. Veterans seem to open up to other veterans and are more willing to share their stories and experiences. As a veteran myself, I find the volunteer experience to be very rewarding. -Jim Loftis, Caris Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteer
